his Backdraft Racing Roadster was assembled in 2008 by Vintage Motorsports in Wallingford, Connecticut, and was acquired by the current owner in 2018. Power comes from a Roush Performance 427R V8 linked with a Tremec five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential, and the car is finished in Sterling Grey with black and red stripes. It rolls on 17″ Shelby American Racing alloy wheels mounted over Wilwood disc brakes and is further equipped with a fully independent suspension system, double roll hoops, and a side-exit exhaust system. Inside, the bucket seats are trimmed in black leather and are joined by Crow racing harnesses, a Corsa steering wheel, and Revolution Gauges instrumentation. Work in July 2024 involved changing the fluids and replacing the tires, spark plugs, cylinder heads, and various gaskets. This Backdraft Roadster is now offered on dealer consignment in Florida with build documents, service records, a black soft top and tonneau cover, and a clean Pennsylvania title in the current owner’s name describing the vehicle as a Specially Constructed Coupe.
The fiberglass bodywork is finished in Sterling Grey with black and red over-the-top stripes. Details include a hood scoop, a windshield frame-mounted side mirror, double roll hoops, quick-jack bumperettes, and side-exit exhaust pipes with perforated heat shields. A removable black soft top and a matching tonneau cover are included in the sale.
The 17″ Shelby American Racing wheels are secured with safety-wired three-eared knock-off spinners and wear staggered-width Mickey Thompson Street Comp tires that were installed in July 2024. The car is equipped with rack-and-pinion steering, Turner Motorsports adjustable rear control arms, solid subframe bushings, and front and rear sway bars. Braking is provided by Wilwood six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers mounted over cross-drilled and slotted rotors.
The cockpit features low-back bucket seats upholstered in black leather with red stitching, and Crow latch-and-link four-point harnesses with Roush-branded shoulder pads are fitted for each occupant. A fire extinguisher is mounted under the dashboard, and appointments include a dash-mounted rearview mirror, tinted sun-visors, door map pockets, and a Hurst shifter.
A flat-bottom Corsa steering wheel features a Cobra-branded center and sits ahead of Revolution Gauges Legacy instrumentation consisting of a reverse-sweep 160-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary readouts for monitoring oil pressure, fuel level, coolant temperature, and voltage. The digital odometer indicates 8k miles, approximately 4k of which have been added under current ownership.
The Roush Performance 427R V8 is equipped with a Holley Carburetor, MSD ignition components, Roush-branded valve covers, and exhaust headers. Work in July 2024 included changing the fluids as well as replacing the cylinder heads, spark plugs and wires, and valve cover, oil pan, and intake and exhaust manifold gaskets.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a Tremec TKO-600 five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential with 3.73:1 gears.
The car is titled in Pennsylvania as a specially constructed coupe with no year listed using the Connecticut-issued identification number—CT39786—shown above. The Backdraft Racing identification tag can be viewed in the gallery below.
